7:45am, 75°F, plants are outside
Well, I had my first home-grown salad!
It was delightful. Put a little oil and vinegar on it, and salt and pepper… yum. And so much more satisfying, knowing I grew it myself.
I’m sorry I haven’t posted much lately; life got pretty busy. Suh is the way of things, I suppose.
In unhappy [...]

So, today, I noticed something very exciting out in one of the pots…
The zucchini has some flowers starting! Which means I should be picking the end zucchini result at some point in the relatively near future! Woohoo!
It would be fantastic if I had my own zucchini to use by the time [...]

My Grand Rapids lettuce is growing, and I’m getting really excited about eating it.
I will eat you soon, tasty lettuces.
It’s a loose leaf variety, so it won’t form a head. I figured that this would be better for container gardening. I might start sowing more seeds, too… a book I’ve been [...]

7:3am, 63°F, sunny, plants are outside
The lemon balm is continuing to do it’s thing and be sort of out of control in my pots. But I do rather like how it’s been draping over the side of the one pot, and if it can control itself enough to leave the bulbs in that pot alone, [...]

8:15am, 62°F, sunny, plants outside. Cat outside, too, I think.
So, the zucchini plant continues to do well. It seems to like to drape dramatically over the edge of the pot. I tend to personify everything around me, and if this zucchini could interact more, it would definitely be wearing a jaunty hat and talking smarmily [...]

7:55am, 53°F, most plants outside. (Peppers & tomatoes inside.)
Yeah, yeah, I’m having too much fun with the puns. In any case, the thyme is doing much as it was. I used some in cooking the other day– an experimental attempt at mozzarella-tomato-herb muffins. Unfortunately, they mostly tasted like nothing and I had to get some [...]

8:15am, 50°F, rainy. Plants are outside.
Today is an icky, rainy day and I don’t want to go to work. Working in a garden center is no fun when the weather is crappy– there is only so much stuff you can find to do inside. Bleh. But I’m hoping this rain will be good for all [...]

So, let me open this up with a question– what’s your favorite herb?
Mine is dill. I love dill. It’s easy to grow, will reseed itself with little fuss (though it may end up in pots or places you don’t expect), it smells heavenly and tastes great. It’s perfect for use in [...]

11:00am, 64°F, plants are outside
I’ve been busybusybusy lately, though I guess that’s nothing new. I’ve been lax in tending to the balcony garden, too, though, and I still have a lot to get done with it. Eek. I had not been faithful in reapplying the cayenne pepper and the pepper flakes. I was taught a [...]

8:10am, 48°F & drizzly, most plants inside.
Some lemon balm, the thymes, lettuce & morning glories are outside.
I had planted some bell pepper seeds in with my other two slowly-coming-back Serrano & Jalapeno peppers. I’d seen no sign of life from the seeds, which made me sad. Until the other day!
I’m hoping that they are, indeed, [...]
