I ended up with a bunch of bulbs that were 75% off at Lowe’s the other day. Haven’t gotten around to planting them yet. Also have a “Blueberries n’ Cream” hydrangea sitting around that was rescued from a dumpster fate… check your nearest Lowes for the discount plants, people.
I’m kind of trying to [...]

Lettuce and Komatsuna seedlings are coming along. I’ve also seed a lot of other seedlings– more lemon balm, I think, for one, and also morning glories, hooray! Sometimes they can be slow to sprout since I don’t bother to soak & nick the seeds, but I think that as long as squirrels keep [...]

I don’t know how, but somehow, yesterday, I totally missed the fact that the pot containing some gladiolus bulbs (which bloomed two years ago but not last year) and rain lilies had buds off of some of the lily stems. Truth be told, I’d forgotten about the lilies completely and just figured my [...]

I had a busy weekend, and then today I worked a 9 hour day, so there really hasn’t been too much going on in balcony-land. However, a quick look earlier revealed some seedlings coming up in the pot with the lettuce and komatsuna seeds. Fingers crossed that it is, indeed, one of the [...]

I haven’t done anything new and exciting in the past few days with the balcony garden, I’ll admit. I really need to get some of the pots I still have inside out, as I see seedlings in a few… not sure of what just yet, though! (Those pots had all been outside, [...]

This blog has spent a good many months severely neglected. My plants only fared slightly better.
But it is spring again, and I’m back to work at the garden center, surrounded by plants all day, which is pretty inspiring. And so, I’m kicking this blog back up onto its feet! Woo! And I’m kicking [...]

A moment of silence, for the plants who perished while I was on vacation.
Morning glory seedlings, you were so young. You held so much potential, but you went before your time.
Lettuce, you, too, could not hold up to the heat. But you were starting to bolt anyway, so it was probably your time.
Lemon balm… well, [...]

Eeee… been so busy lately. I’m so sorry, blog, that I’ve been neglecting you.
Part of the business was because I had my Home Farming Party on Friday night! It went really well. There was pot-painting and a potting station and food and fun!
I used a bunch of my [sort of overgrown] lemon balm to make [...]

Well, I had my first home-grown salad!
It was delightful. Put a little oil and vinegar on it, and salt and pepper… yum. And so much more satisfying, knowing I grew it myself.
I’m sorry I haven’t posted much lately; life got pretty busy. Suh is the way of things, I suppose.
In unhappy [...]

First off, exciting news– I was chosen to host a Home Farming party over on Gather. They’re supplying some Triscuits (sponsor of this venture, I believe) and I host a gardening-themed party which is then judged on adherence to the theme, originality and creativity based on a photo essay I post [...]
